GPhC looks to fill new chief pharmacy officer role

The General Pharmaceutical Council has begun its search for a chief pharmacy officer who it said will “provide cross-cutting professional leadership within” the regulator.

The GPhC said the new role has been created as “part of a wider set of changes designed to foster a culture of enterprise leadership, inclusion and collaboration” at the regulator.

The chief pharmacy officer, it said, “will bring a new pharmacy professional voice and presence into the GPhC senior leadership team” and “represent the pharmacy regulator authoritatively on professional issues.”

The new appointee will also take the lead on pharmacy inspection and regulatory insight. The GPhC said the successful candidate will be a registered pharmacist or pharmacy technician.

“The post holder will bring a collaborative approach to working both within and outside the organisation,” it said.

“They will be responsible for ensuring that all the GPHC’s work is informed by relevant evidence and data, with the insight drawn from that supporting the development of pharmacy services and policy.” The deadline for applications is  August 7.
